Our big date this year is Saturday August 18th. This fabulous event is the cornerstone of the fundraising needed to keep your Fire Department in operation. Those who have attended will agree on the outstanding hospitality of the MVFD! This awesome event has become so popular that attendance has increased greatly, including folks from outside the area. Please recruit your friends, buy a table, and have fun! This year food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided by the award winning Sonoma based restaurant, Olive & Vine. Music by local musician, Stu Allen & Friends!
MVFD was founded in 1980 and is the first responder for emergencies in an especially challenging area just to the east of Sonoma Valley. The terrain is vast—over 7200 acres; steep—rising from 300’ on the valley floor to over 2,300’ in just five miles of roadway, making access difficult and time consuming; prone to extremes in weather—drought in the summer and fall, with the heightened risk of fire; no reliable source of year-round water; and storms in the winter.
In the October 2017 fires, 46 homes were lost in the Mayacamas, but 2 in 3 were saved by the heroic efforts of the entire County-wide fire team. Five of the MVFD Firefighters lost their homes while they were saving other people’s property.
We have two fire stations:
Station 1 is located at the intersection of Trinity and Cavedale Roads
Station 2 is located on Cavedale road, 5 miles from highway 12 and 2 miles from station 1
We currently have 9 volunteer firefighters that are fully trained to state firefighting standards. We have 4 fire engines.
